Ours is a relationship-based business. We work best in relationships based on trust, sharing, open communication and mutual respect. We hope to earn your respect as a trusted financial partner and we want you to know we are committed to your best interests. It is important that we and our services are compatible with your values.
We offer a complimentary introductory meeting where we can learn about each other. At that meeting, we’ll talk about our services, philosophies and methodology. We’ll give you more specific information on how we do business. We’ll talk about our fee-only compensation. This is the time to ask questions to determine if this is the type of service and fee structure you are comfortable with.
There are several questions you should be answering in this meeting.
- Is there a good fit between my needs and their services?
- Am I comfortable working in a fee-based arrangement?
- Can I work with this person?
- Will I be comfortable sharing my hopes for the future?
- Will I be comfortable sharing details of my financial situation?
- Can I trust this person to work in my best interests?
- Are our values compatible?
If you decide to retain our services, we will sign an engagement letter defining the scope of the engagement. Much of the early process will be spent getting to know you and understanding your goals, concerns and values. This allows us to formulate recommendations best suited for your needs.
The engagement may take several months to complete, depending on the complexity of your situation. The process includes review of all plan inputs and discussion of plan recommendations and implementation steps.
The presentation of the plan does not end the relationship. You may wish to use our investment management or other services to help you implement the recommendations or we can refer you to other professionals, as needed. You may wish to schedule periodic reviews of the plan to continue the collaborative process.
Our services are typically part of a process, not an event. We know life happens, things change and your goals will evolve. A plan focuses on steps along the journey, but the relationship focuses on a longer-term view of bringing your dreams to reality.
